Is a very experienced civil and commercial litigator. He has represented clients in over 30 mediated disputes ranging from leaky building claims to property and commercial contract disputes. Paul has appeared as supporting counsel in Tribunals and in the District and High Courts. He has provided advice to bodies corporate including matters of insurance, contractual relationships with service providers and body corporate governance and administration.

Skills & Experience

  • Insurance litigation including: subrogation, property damage and liability coverage – Paul negotiated a settlement for a construction company in a dispute around an insurance claim for public liability cover.
  • Commercial Contracts – Paul acted for a family trust in a dispute between the liquidator and the trust’s accountant regarding issues with financial accounts and tax liability.
  • Construction disputes including leaky buildings and construction contracts’ claims – Paul acted for bodies corporate, owners, builders, and developers in leaky building proceedings.
  • Property and Leases – Paul acted in a summary judgment application for a property owner with a lease dispute. Negotiated settlement for a defaulting developer over a cancelled land purchase agreement.
  • Body Corporate (Unit Titles Act 2010) – Paul acted with Senior Counsel for a body corporate (with over 200 unit owners) for a dispute over a repair scheme under the Unit Titles Act.
  • General commercial civil litigation – Paul negotiated a mediated settlement for a New Zealand producer in a product warranty dispute with an international client.
